New Year, New Normal

It feels like January, all right. It’s cold today, but sunny, at least for the hours of the day it’s not dark. The sidewalks are a graveyard of Christmas trees awaiting their sawdusty fate, brittle needles littering the ground like New Year’s confetti. A new Fitbit adorns my wrist, clocking my steps; the store windows all scream “SALE! FURTHER REDUCTIONS!”; my body is trying to adjust to a daily diet that doesn’t include Christmas cookies, with great resignation. Yes, January. It feels pretty much exactly the same here as it does in America.

And along the lines of New Year’s resolutions, I resolve here and now to finally get around to writing up the backlog of blog posts that have been rattling around in my head for the past two months. With E back in school as of two days ago, and no house guests “in the diary” anytime soon, it’s time we figure out what our new normal is as a family of four living in London. So stay tuned, more to come!
